The suit features a high buttoning front with shoulder seams in a position consistent with its age. You will note that in has no breast pocket. The trousers are flat fronted with a button fly, back adjuster and buttons for braces. Dark blue fabric shot through with a white check/fleck. Minor signs of age-related wear but otherwise in near-deadstock condition.
The lining on the waistcoat and the trousers is beautiful and still incredibly bright considering its age. Although there's no way of saying that it's definitely the same person, the name on the hanger'Alfred Bernstein' matches that of a Berlin resident born in the Silesian city of Ohlau (now Olawa) in 1862 who was deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp in July 1942 and died aged 79 that same year. The myheritage entry for Alfred Bernstein lists his residence as being in Mitte and the address on the hanger'Lothringerstraße' (now Torstraße) is in the same area.
